Our Missions

In 2010 we decided to shift our focus concerning missions to our local community.  We continued our giving to My Father's House which is a homeless shelter for Individuals from Miami County.  We also support the Salvation Army on a quarterly basis.

First Presbyterian Church is a proud member of PACA (Paola Association for Church Action).  Through our membership in this organization, we are able to expand our reach to help more people in the community.  Several individuals come in to our church office in need of food, shelter, and occasionally gas money for medical appointments.  Through PACA, we are able to assit these individuals.

We always have food collections barrels available in the foyer and upon entering the sanctuary from the south entrances.  Food items are gathered weekly and dropped off at My Father's House, the location of the PACA food pantry.

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?  Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.  Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.  Isaiah 58:6-9
